大小島真木がボルボ スタジオ 青山で展示。美術手帖 × VOLVO ART PROJECT 第4弾

「美術手帖×VOLVO ART PROJECT」の第4弾、アーティスト・大小島真木による作品展示《樹がその生命を分かつ時 When trees distribute their lives 》がボルボ スタジオ 青山で開催されています。

大小島は、描くことを通じて自身の中に生まれる物語を丹念に紡ぐアーティストです。インドやポーランド、メキシコ、インドネシア、屋久島、小笠原など国内外を旅するなかで触れた、その土地が持つ自然や風土、風習のあり方に呼応しながら、制作を続けてきました。生と死の循環、森羅万象のありようを物語る作品は、人間もまた個を超えた地球の生命体の一部であることを自然と感じさせます。本展では、こうした世界観を入口の吹き抜け ガラスに展示された高さ5メートル以上の新作ドローイングをはじめ、展示車両、ミニカーへのペインティングやオリジナルの絵本、映像、スケッチなどに展開しています。

樹がその生命を分かつ時 When trees distribute their lives
生命の終わりが新たな命へと、変わってゆく経験と出会う。
その循環の中にいる人としての身体を見る。

光の子どもが問いかける、 僕たちは何によって生かされているのだろう。
山の子が問いかける、君の中に山はあるのか、と。
大地と海、地上の生き物たちを通して、地球、宇宙のなかでの私たちの生を問う
会期初日の4月3日には記者会見とライブペインティングを実施。6日にはワークショップが開催され 、大小島による自作の絵本『ウオルド』の読み聞かせのあと、旅にまつわる記憶を参加者が語り合いました。

●プロフィール
おおこじま・まき

1987年東京生まれ。2011年女子美術大学大学院修士課程修了。主な賞にトーキョーワンダーウォール賞（2009年）、VOCA奨励賞（2014年）など。近年の主な展示に、個展「鳥よ、僕の骨で大地の歌を鳴らして」（第一生命ギャラリー、東京、2015年）、「絵とことばのまじわりが物語のはじまり」（太田市美術館・図書館、群馬、2017年）、「万物の眠り、大地の血管」（府中市美術館 公開制作、東京、2017年）、「アグロス・アートプロジェクト 明日の収穫」（青森県立美術館、青森、2017年より継続中）など。その他、アニエス・ベー主催による海洋調査船タラ号のプロジェクトへの参加や、多摩六都科学館のプラネタリウム全天88星座の原画制作、南沢氷川神社への天井画奉納など多方面で活動。

The fourth exhibition of the “Art handbook × Volvo Art Project”, <> by artist Maki Ooshima, is being held at the Volvo Studio Aoyama.

Okojima is an artist who carefully spins the story that comes from within him through drawing. While traveling in India, Poland, Mexico, Indonesia, Yakushima, Ogasawara, and other countries, I have continued to create works that reflect the nature, climate, and customs of each region. The work that describes the cycle of life and death and the state of the universe makes us feel that human beings are also a part of the earth’s life beyond the individual. In this exhibition, such a view of the world is shown in new drawings over 5 meters tall on the glass atrium at the entrance, as well as in the painting of exhibition vehicles, miniature cars, original picture books, images and sketches.

Okojima ・ Maki
Born in Tokyo in 1987. Completed the master’s course at the Graduate School of Joshibi University of Art and Design in 2011. Major awards include the Tokyo Wonder Wall Award (2009) and the VOCA Incentive Award (2014). Major exhibitions in recent years are “Birds, sing the song of the earth with my bones.” (Daiichi Seimei Gallery, Tokyo, 2015), “The beginning of the story is the mixture of pictures and words.” (Ota City Art Museum/Library, Gunma, 2017), “Sleep of the universe, blood vessels of the earth” (Fuchu City Art Museum, Tokyo, 2017), “Agros Art Project Tomorrow’s Harvest” (Aomori Prefectural Museum of Art, Aomori, continuing since 2017), etc. In addition, he participated in the project of the marine research vessel Tara sponsored by Agnes B, made original drawings of all 88 constellations in the planetarium of Tama Mutoh Science Museum, dedicated ceiling paintings to Minamisawa Hikawa-jinja Shrine, etc.
