美術手帖 ✕ VOLVO ART PROJECT 第10弾 小田 尚稔『善悪のむこうがわ “Beyond Good and Evil”』開催

小田はこれまで、哲学や文学のテクストを題材にしながら人間の価値観や存在のゆらぎを扱う作品を多く制作してきました。今作を制作時にも、物事に意味を与える絶対的な存在（或いは神と呼ばれる存在）について、そして一方で、全てを知ることはできない人間が『善い』と『悪い』の狭間で悩み問答することについてを問いとして持ったといいます。それは、ニーチェの著作『善悪の彼岸(Jenseits von Gut und Böse)』を踏まえて付けたという題名にも表れています。私達自身、日々生じる出来事の意味や目的を、全て知ることはできません。そのような中で私達は何を思い、考えることができるでしょうか。 本公演に際して、ボルボ スタジオ 青山を車のある演劇空間に仕立てます。ぜひ本公演に触れ、思いに耽る一時を過ごして頂けたらと思います。

善悪のむこうがわ “Beyond Good and Evil” この度は、VOLVOさまと美術手帖さまのご協力のもと、新作公演の機会を設けて頂き、ありがとうございます。 相変わらず「よい」という抽象的な事柄について、演劇作品の上演を通して自分なりに考えたいと思っているのですが、今回は「『善(good)』と『悪(evil)』を越えた先」について考えたいと思っています。 生活していると、「どうしても『よい』とか『悪い』で割り切れない」ような事柄を体験したり、他人のそれを見聞きしたりすることがあります。そういうときに自分は、なにか神の存在のようなことをつい思ってしまいます。ここで言う神とは、宗教的なそれというよりも、世界のあり方、なにか社会規範のようなイメージで捉えています。付言すると、もし仮にこの世界を創った無限(絶対的な)の存在者(神)が実在したとして、それにも関わらず、私たち人間は、上記のような有限で、板ばさみのような気持ちを人生のある局面で持ってしまうのか、というような問いです(稚拙で抽象的な言い方になってしまい、すいません！)。 ニーチェ(Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche:1844-1900)は、神について次のように書いています。「狂気の人間は彼らの中にとびこみ、孔のあくほどひとりびとりを睨(にら)みつけた。『神がどこへ行ったかって？』、と彼は叫んだ、『おれがお前たちに言ってやる！〔略〕神は死んだ！神は死んだままだ！』」ニーチェ『悦ばしき知識(ニーチェ全集８)』(信太正三訳、ちくま学芸文庫、１９９３年、２１９-２２０頁)。 タイトルの「善悪のむこうがわ」は、ニーチェの著作『善悪の彼岸(Jenseits von Gut und Böse)』を踏まえて付けさせて頂きました。付けたタイトルに名前負けしないように、頑張ります。 　小田 尚稔

小田尚稔｜Naotoshi Oda

1986年生まれ。広島市出身。東京学芸大学大学院教育学研究科修士課程修了。2015年より劇作活動を始める。主な演劇作品に「高架線」(原作:滝口悠生『高架線』)(2018年1月上演)、「悪について」“About evil” (2017年9月上演)、「是でいいのだ」“Es ist gut”(2016年10月初演)、「聖地巡礼」“Goto paradise！” (2017年2月初演) など。

Art handbook x Volvo ART Project 10 held by Naotoshi Oda ‘Unogawa of good and evil “Beyond Good and Evil”‘

As the 10 series of “Art handbook × Volvo Art Project”, a new play ‘Unogawa of good and evil “Beyond Good and Evil”‘ by playwright Naotoshi Oda will be performed at Volvo Studio Aoyama on May 15, 2019, 16th and 17th.

Oda has produced many works that deal with human values and fluctuations of existence while using the texts of philosophy and literature as subjects. It is said that when he was making this work, he asked questions about the absolute existence that gives meaning to things (Or something called a god.), and on the other hand, about the people who cannot know everything and have trouble and debate between ‘good’ and ‘bad’. This is reflected in the title of the book, which is based on Nietzsche’s book ‘the equinoctial week between good and evil (Jenseits von Gut und Böse)’. We ourselves cannot know all the meaning and purpose of what happens every day. What can we think and think in such a situation? For this performance, Volvo Studio Aoyama will be turned into a theater space with a car. I hope you will experience this performance and spend a memorable time.

“Beyond Good and Evil” Thank you for giving me the opportunity of the new performance with the cooperation of Volvo and Art Handbook. As always, I want to think about the abstract matter of “good” in my own way through the performance of a play, but this time I want to think about “Beyond ‘Zen (good)’ and ‘Evil (Evil)'”. In your life, you may experience things like “I can’t say ‘good’ or ‘bad’ no matter what.” or see and hear others’. At such times, I can’t help thinking of something like the existence of God. In this context, the term “god” refers to the way the world is, rather than a religious one, as if it were some kind of social norm. In addition, it is a question as to whether, if the infinite (absolute) beings (gods) who created this world were real, we human beings would, in a certain aspect of our lives, have the feeling of being limited and being in a dilemma as described above (I’m sorry for the clumsy and abstract expression!). Nietzsche (Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche: 1844 -1900) writes about God:. “The mad man leaped into them, staring (Chinese chive) at the foraminiferous Alone. ‘Where did God go?’ he cried , ‘I’ll tell you! God is dead! God is dead!'” Nietzsche ‘Pleasant knowledge (Complete Works of Nietzsche 8)’ (Shinta Shozan translation, Chikuma Gakugei Bunko, 1993, p. 219 -220). The title “Beyond Good and Evil” is based on Nietzsche’s book “good”. I will do my best not to lose to the title I gave. 　　Naotoshi Oda

His major theatrical works include “overhead wire” (Original by TAKIGUCHI Yuki ‘overhead wire’) (Performed in January 2018), “about evil” “About evil” (Performed in September 2017), “It’s all right.” “Es ist gut” (First performed in October 2016), and “pilgrimage” “Goto paradise!” (First performed in February 2017).
